Students to Present Creative and Research Projects on April 12

With 鶹Ƶվ having been an early leader in teaching undergraduate students by engaging them in collaborative research, it’s only appropriate that this year’s installment of the college’s annual student-research celebration is running a few days ahead of the national commemoration of the practice.

David Lee to Present the Asian Heritage Lecture on April 9

David Lee, who is advancement director at Lighthouse Immigrant Advocates and a 鶹Ƶվ graduate, will present the college’s 2024 Asian Heritage Lecture on Tuesday, April 9, at 4 p.m. in the Maas Center auditorium.

Retired English Professor Peter Schakel Dies

Retired English professor Dr. Peter Schakel, who across his nearly 50 years on the faculty earned national acclaim as a scholar and appreciation and respect from students and colleagues as a teacher and for his service, died on Wednesday, March 20, 2024. He was 82.

Pre-Veterinary Students Honored During National Conference

Two Holland-area students who are members of the Club Animalia veterinary club at Hope College were honored during the national symposium of the American Pre-Veterinary Medical Association (APVMA) held on Friday and Saturday, March 8 and 9, at North Carolina State University.

Dr. Jane Dickie, a retired member of the Hope College psychology faculty who was the founding director of the college’s women’s and gender studies program, will present the college’s 2024 Affirming LGBTQ+ Students Lecture on Thursday, March 21, at 4 p.m. in the Maas Center auditorium.

Awakening focuses on developing high school students’ skills in areas like visual arts, dance, preaching and technology.
